In a move that reflects the spirit of civic engagement and cooperation between the inside and outside, Syria First carried out a small development project in the city of Zamalka in the Damascus countryside, in cooperation with the city’s local council and with funding from friends of the movement in the United States.

The project involved furnishing a group of school desks in one of Zamalka’s schools, which had long suffered from the effects of war, allowing classrooms to be refurbished and students to be welcomed in a more suitable learning environment.

This project is part of Syria First’s vision to activate the role of local councils and promote the concept of administrative decentralization as a real gateway to reconstruction and sustainable development. In our view, local initiatives are the foundation for rebuilding trust between society and state institutions.

We emphasize that the goal was not only to restore the school, but also to revive hope in education as a fundamental right for every Syrian child and to convey the message that reconstruction begins with small steps led by the people themselves.

At Syria First, we are working to implement similar projects in a number of Syrian regions, focusing on supporting education, revitalizing community initiatives, and connecting Syrians inside and outside the country with efforts to rebuild their homeland.

We invite you to explore the rest of our initiatives, learn about the projects we are working on in different regions, and contribute to supporting them or supporting Syria First in general by donating through our website.
